For those who live to the South of Boston:

Big Dig closures sometimes affects traffic after midnight on the tunnel portion of Route 93. Traffic is usually routed to surface roads, causing traffic jams.

Here is one possible detour to go around the traffic. The idea is to travel through Boston on Massachusetts Ave, and get back onto Route 93. Please let me know how well this works for you.

From Springstep: Travel south on Route 93, take exit #26, which is Storrow Drive. Follow Storrow Drive to the Kenmore Square/Fenway exit, and bear to the left towards Fenway (slow down! exit turns sharply to the left). At the traffic light bear left to Boylston Street Inbound.

At the next traffic light bear another left. Go straight on the next traffic light. The next traffic light should be Massachusetts Avenue, turn right onto it. Follow Mass Ave (1.4 miles) and follow directions to I-93.
